FISHPONDS PLANNING / UWE AREA PROJECT 2017
During the summer months of 2017, final year Planning & Architecture students from UWE completed their work on our second major joint project…
There a several individual large sites around Fishponds that have identified by the council for development into housing and /or mixed use. We had identified a combined area that we called “The Industrial Triangle”, covering the ALD Automotive site, the old Diamonite site and Graphic Packaging.
The students were given the brief of “look at the combined area and design potential developments based on the council’s designation for the land and to take into account of feedback from our surveys”.
The students developed three concept developments based on mixed use developments with varying levels of transport and environmental options and a high, medium and low level of housing density.
The students presented their detailed report to Fishponds Planning in July and we are looking to use it to influence the new Bristol City Council’s Site Allocation Plan.
It’s well worth looking at and filled with interesting data, ideas and analysis. You can view the entire document right here to see what could be possible in the future for Fishponds.
We want to hear your views on your area – add your voice!
In order to shape our proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan around the needs and wishes of the local community we need to hear from you!
You can download a short questionnaire to complete yourself right here. The questionnaire only takes a few minutes and will really help guide the group in producing an NDP. Please do complete the map section, which is especially important.
Completed questionnaires may be returned in person at any Fishponds Planning meeting or event (please refer to news posts for the latest date and venue); by email, to chair@fishpondsplanning.org.uk; or by post, to: The Secretary, Fishponds Planning, 19 Brentry Road, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2AA.
In 2015 Fishponds Planning successfully applied for a small grant from the Community Development Foundation’s ‘First Steps’ programme. As part of the successful collaboration between Fishponds Planning and First Steps, which included several helpful training courses in addition to the monetary grant, we were given great support by CDF Relationship Manager Debbie Croucher. Debbie helped Fishponds Planning shape an Action Plan to help chart a course for us to follow and to show the group’s intentions to CDF and the wider community. You can read the plan in full, right here!
FISHPONDS PLANNING / UWE AREA PROJECT
During the summer months of 2015, three final year Planning & Architecture students from UWE completed their work on our first major joint project. Studying key sites on and near Fishponds Road – taking in traffic surveys, questionnaires with local residents and site specific analysis and plans – the students produced a very thorough and comprehensive document of which they should be rightly proud; we are.
The three students presented their detailed report to Fishponds Planning in July and almost immediately it was referenced by BCC Planning Officers in correspondence with Beacon Tower’s developers during the pre-application stages – a positive contribution from the very start.
The project has been split into 4 sections:
A FISHPONDS ROAD – HIGH STREET ANALYSIS
B BEACON TOWER & THE TILE WAREHOUSE SITE ANALYSIS, PROPOSALS & POLICY
C ‘THE CROSSROADS’ (FISHPONDS ROAD/HOCKEYS LANE AREA) ANALYSIS, PROPOSALS & POLICY
D THE ‘LODGE CAUSEWAY TRIANGLE’ ANALYSIS, PROPOSALS & POLICY CONTENTS
It’s well worth looking at and filled with interesting data, ideas and analysis. You can view the entire document right here.
